The Eureka Heritage Society holds its 2009 Historic Preservation Awards.

  • The College of the Redwoods Historic Preservation and Restoration Technology Program
  • The Nilsen Company
  • Humboldt County Public Health Branch
  • Joanne and Rory Hanson
  • Globe Properties and the Maxon Family
  • Faye and John Judy
  • were honored by the Eureka Heritage Society during its 2009 Historic Preservation Awards Ceremony in the Eureka Woman’s Club, 1531 J Street, Saturday, May 16, 2009.

    College of the Redwoods Historic Preservation and Restoration Technology Program and Instructors were honored with the Community Advocate Award.

    The Commercial Building Preservation Award went to The Nilsen Company for 502 Broadway

    The Community Building Preservation Award went to the Humboldt County Public Health Branch at 529 I Street.

    Joanne and Rory Hanson received the Adaptive Re-use Preservation Award for 804 3rd Street.

    Globe Properties and The Maxon Family were named Preservationist of the Year.

    The Preservation Awards for Residential went to Faye and John Judy for the extensive porch restoration at their home, 2333 E Street.

    “The Preservation Awards,” explains EHS Past-President Ron Kuhnel, “are an incentive to building owners to restore and maintain the buildings that are Eureka’s important heritage.”
