2011 Preservation Awards Event

The Eureka Heritage Society held its 2011 Historic Preservation Awards at
the Eureka Woman’s Club, 1531 J Street.

Three historical properties and a local window restorer are this year’s recipients of the Eureka Heritage Society’s annual preservation awards.

 



  • Preservationist of the Year:Don Moeller, also know as "The Old House General".
  • The Commercial Preservation Award honors Terry Coltra, Director, and the Northern California Indian Development Council for the Carson Block Building at 3rd and F Streets, Eureka.
  • The Residential Award: To Ann White and Robert Serpa for their house at 1218 B Street.
  • The Community Building Award: Humboldt Senior Resource Center and the City of Eureka for the Old Washington School Building at 1910 California Street.
  • The Community Service Award: The Kuhnel Family. Ron, Melanie, Josh, Betty Kuhnel and Leslie Lollich.

  • “The Preservation Awards,” explains EHS Past-President Ron Kuhnel, “are an incentive to building owners to restore and maintain the buildings that are Eureka’s important heritage.”
