Looking for a Few Good Victorian Garden Ideas

Interested in Victorian Gardens? Tired of landscaping colored rocks and junipers? If so, you're invited to join with Keep Eureka Beautiful on developing and promoting the concept of Victorian gardens.

Although Eureka defines itself as a Victorian Seaport, and encourages building designs that are consistent - replacing horizontal windows and vertical siding for example, with the more Victorian-looking vertical windows and horizontal siding - it has never extended this concept to landscaping. Keep Eureka Beautiful would like to work with

other community organizations like Eureka Heritage Society to develop a brochure picturing some Victorian gardens, and giving how-to-tips for those that are interested in working with this theme in their landscaping.

President's Corner

Here we are in anew century! Last year was productive and busy, and we are looking forward to a great year in 2000. As President, I have several goals I will be working toward. The first is to increase our membership this year to 200 members. In this community that "loves its architecture" we certainly should be able to expand our active membership roster if we can successfully communicate the value of EHS in our city. Secondly, my goal will be to work together with our outstanding board members to provide a full schedule of educational programs and events to raise public awareness of historic preservation in Eureka. My final goal will be to have fun together while we do all those things!

It will soon be time to renew your memberships. I look forward to your participation in the coming year, and hope that each of you will invite a friend or neighbor to join EHS too!
