Strategic Plan: Vision Statement, Goals, and Strategies

Vision Statement

We envision a community where historic preservation and restoration are valued, celebrated, practiced, and supported with sufficient resources.

Goal 1: Have the Annie B. Ryan House & Gardens (ABR) recognized within the community as an example of accomplished historic preservation.

Strategies:
  • Create signs for ABR property explaining the history of the site.
  • Prepare application for National Register of Historic Places and California Register of Historical Resources.
  • Create an annual maintenance plan and obtain board approval of the plan each year by April 30.
  • Continue working toward a completed preservation and restoration resource library.

Goal 2: Eureka Heritage Society will educate and excite the community about the importance of restoration and preservation.

Strategies:
  • Be an ongoing resource to the community.
  • Provide ongoing education to realtors and new vintage homeowners.
  • Create a house museum.
  • Put the list of CalTrans Covenant properties on the EHS website. COMPLETED
  • Keep apprised of developments within the City of Eureka that would impact historic preservation.
  • Provide samples of appropriate infill.
  • Collaborate with other nonprofit and for-profit organizations and government entities to further historic preservation.
  • Further develop effective communication.

Goal 3: We will seek to have a more diverse, active, and involved membership

Strategies:
  • Work to increase membership annually.
  • Increase member involvement as volunteers and participants in all activities.
  • Explore membership incentives.
