Architectural Styles of Eureka
Presented by Jill Macdonald, a sixth-generation Humboldt County native.
Macdonald graduated from the University of Oregon with degrees in Architectural History and Historic Preservation. She was instrumental in the development of CR’s Historic Preservation program and was also one of its instructors. She is also past president and a founding member of Eureka Main Street, a National Trust for Historic Preservation program.
Macdonald has also taught at Cal Poly Humboldt and at the University of Oregon, and she wrote the much-loved column “Past Perfect” for the Times-Standard. Currently she is co-chair of theLandmark Committee for the City of Arcata.

Marino discusses the free websites and databases that are helpful to anyone researching historical homes and neighborhoods. There is a focus on the digital maps, photographs, newspapers, and city directories that are available online.
Marino is the Special Collections Librarian and Archivist at Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata. She is a Certified Archivist and has a BA in Film Studies from the University of Vermont, and a MA in Cinematic Arts and Critical Studies from the University of Southern California. She also earned a Master of Library and Information Science degree from San Jose State University.
